حظيت السيرة الذاتية على نحو عام بأهمية مضاعفة في السنوات الأخيرة، إذ انتبه الكثير من الأدباء العرب إلى ضرورتها وخطورتها النوعية وشرعوا في وضع سيرهم الذاتية، ولا سيما الأدباء الذين يمتلكون ثراء نوعياً في ميدان خصب يمكن أن ينير الطريق أمام الأجيال الأدبية الساعية إلى تقديم مشاريعها عبر الإفادة من تجارب من سبقهم.
لكن الجدير بالملاحظة والإهتمام أن السيرة الذاتية بأنموذجها السردي - التقليدي - المعروف لم تعد هي سيدة النماذج في هذا المجال، إذ تكشّفت معظم الأجناس عن بؤر سير ذاتية مركزية وجوهرية تحدد على نحو ما مصير الشكل الأدبي وتخلخل قواعده الأجناسية، فكان كتابنا (السيرة الذاتية الشعرية) الصادر عن دائرة الثقافة والإعلام في الشارقة عام 1999 الذي نقدمه بطبعته الثانية فاتحة للنظر في شبكة مصطلحات جديدة تتضافر فيها الأجناس الأدبية المعروفة مع أفضية السيرة الذاتية، فقد ذيّلنا هذه الطبعة بــ "معجم مصطلحات السيرة" مستقصين في وضعها جملة المسائل والشروط والقواعد والرؤى والأفكار والمشكلات التي تتدخّل في تراكب مصطلحين وتداخل مفاهيمهما على النحو الذي يؤدي إلى إبتكار مصطلح جديد، وهو ما يفتح الباب واسعاً أمام تدخّلات نظرية وتجارب تطبيقية تعزز رؤيتنا المعجمية وتغنيها وتمدّها بأسباب التطوّر والنمو.
