يختلف اهتمام الناس بالاستخارة ضعفاً وشدة باختلاف ما يفهمه هذا الشخص عنها أو ذاك، فقد نجد شخصاً أخذت الاستخارة مجالاً شاسعاً من حياته وتفكيره وقراراته، بينما يقف آخر على النقيض من ذلك تماماً، فتراه هازياً ساخراً من الاستخارة، لا يكن لها أدنى إيمان. فيشكل هذا وذاك طرفي الإفراط والتفريط في موضوع الاستخارة.
وفي هذا البحث المعنون بـ (الاستخارة نحو فهم صحيح وموقف متوازن) سعى المؤلف إلى طرح وعي صحيح للاستخارة انطلاقاً من مراجعة النصوص الواردة في الاستخارة وقراءتها بما ينسجم مع الذوق الإسلامي السليم الذي يحث الإنسان على الارتباط بالله تعالى، والإكثار من دعائه والاستعانة به، وذلك من خلال طرح الاستخارة كشكل من أشكال الدعاء، وكذلك ينسجم مع رفض الذوق الإسلامي ضرب الإصر والأغلال على حركة العقل، وتحجيم مواهب الإنسان وإمكانياته الذاتية، وذلك من خلال طرح الاستخارة كمشورة يلجأ لها الإنسان في ساعات حيرة وتردد.
كما وحاول المؤلف أيضاً في هذا الكتاب أن يقف عند عمق الاستخارة وروحها، والتأمل في آثارها على نفسية المستخير، وكذلك التطرق إلى السلبيات الناشئة من رواج الفكرة الخاطئة عن الاستخارة، والاستخدام الخاطئ لها. وخصص فصلاً في مشروعية الاستخارة، وآخر في مشروعية الاستنابة فيها، كما خصص فصلاً للشبهات المثارة على الاستخارة.
