تعد الاستخارة واحدة من أهم المصاديق العقائدية المعتبرة التي صرحت بها الشريعة الحقة، وأكدت عليها الأحاديث النبوية الشريفة منذ الصدر الأول للإسلام، وقد تمسك بها المسلمون الأوائل أيما تمسك واتخذوها جنة لهم في مهماتهم، وملماتهم وحيرتهم في ما تكشف عنه من خير أو شر، من فعل أمر أو نهي عنه، وهي لا زالت موضع اهتمامهم، حيث يهرعون إليها عند الشعور بالعجو من مواجهة أمرين عصيبين في آن واحد.
وفي هذا السياق وفيما تعنيه الاستخارة، يقول الشيخ عباس القمي في مفاتيحه: تعني طلب الخير، فإذا رمت أمراً، فاستخرت الله تعالى لنفسك". ويقول السيد عباس الكاشاني في مصابيحه: الاستخارة هي طلب الخيرة من الله تعالة فينبغي "لمن أراد عمل مشروع أن يستخير الله تعالى في ذلك" وعنه في "الحدائق" فالمستفاد من الأخبار استحباب الاستخارة ولكل شيء، وتأكدها حتى في المستحبات، وإن الأفضل وقوعها في الأوقات الشريفة والأماكن المنيفة، والرضا لما خرجت له وإن كرهته النفس، لقوله تعالى: "وعسى أن تكرهوا شيئاً وهو خير لكم وعسى أن تحبوا شيئاً وهو شر لكم".
وفي ذلك أخبار مستفيضة زخرت بها كتب الماضين ممن كان لهم الدور الرائد في تسجيل الحقائق العلمية النفسية، والمحافظة عليها جلية ناصعة واضحة تتلو لها المكتبات الإسلامية نشيد الحب والود والاحترام.
وفي هذا الإطار يأتي الكتاب الذي بين يدينا والذي جاء تحت عنوان الاستخارة الجامعة.
