ليس من السهل على المرء أن يحصي ما كتب عن الإمام الحسين رضي الله عنه أو واقعة كربلاء، أو ما ألف في هذا الموضوع من كتب، أو ما وضع من دراسات وبحوث، فكيف بإحصاء المقالات التي دونت وسطرت في هذا المجال؛ وبالرغم من صعوبة هذه المهمة إلا أن مؤلف دائرة المعارف الحسينية وهي أضخم موسوعة في هذا القرن شمّر عن ساعديه وارتدى عدة الغوص ليقتحم هذا المحيط رغم أمواجه العاتية ليغوص في أعماقه باحثاً ومنقباً، كمن يبحث عن اللؤلؤ والمحّار.
وبالفعل إستطاع سماحته من جمع المقالات التي كتبت في قضية الإمام "الحسين رضي الله عنه" ونهضته المباركة وأهدافها، وأسبابها، ونتائجها، وإنعكاساتها، وتأثيراتها على واقع الأمة وعلى كل قيم الحياة في عصر الإمام الحسين رضي الله عنه والعصور التي تلته.
ولقد بدأ سماحته كعادته في كل باب من أبواب هذه الموسوعة بمقدمة علمية وافية شرح فيها المفردات التي تتعلق بهذا الباب من المقالة والمحاضرة والكلمة، متحدثاً بالتفصيل عن عناصرها وأنواعها، لينتقل بعد ذلك إلى الحديث عن الصحافة وتاريخها وأنواع الصحف، ثم بعد هذا وذاك يستعرض وسائل الإعلام التي وردت في هذا الجزء.
وتقوم منهجية هذا الجزء - بشكل موجز - على ذكر المقالات بترتيب ألف بائي كالتالي: عنوان المقالة ولغتها، اسم الكاتب، تاريخ المقالة، اسم الناشر أو وسيلة النشر، موضوع المقالة مع بيان المصدر، ترجمة عنوان المقالة في الهامش إذا لم يكن باللغة العربية؛ ويحتوي هذا الجزء على ستمائة وأربع وثمانون مقالة من حرف الألف إلى حرف الياء دون إنتظار أن ينتهي كل حرف للبدء بالحرف الآخر.
