أحيا الحافظ ابن حجر الإملاء في الحديث واستمر في ذلك طيلة حياته، فأملى كثيرا من الكتب منها" موافقة الخبر الخبر" و "نتائج الأفكار",من جملة ما أملاه هذه الرسالة الصغيرة الحجم الكثيرة الفائدة وهي: الأمال السفرية الحلبية. وهي كما وردت في الكتاب (نسخة الأزهر بخط عمر النصيبي وعليها تصحيح الحافظ ابن حجر وبخطه) وتضم إملاء المؤلف لتلامذته (79) حديثا في (ثماني مجالس) ومن جملة ما أملاه هذه المجالس الثمانية "وهي مخطوطة في فيض الله أفندي (217) 170/ آ إلى 181/آ وهي بخط البقاعي تلميذ المؤلف. والأربعة المجالس الأخيرة بخط عمر النصيبي تلميذ المؤلف كتبت سنة 836هـ".
