"بدأ الفجر يسحب خيوطه، فتفرق الساهرون، وأنس الحبيبان إلى خلوقهما، وتفجر الشوق في كل منهما أنهاراً جارفة، لاكتشاف الآخر، في لحظات حميمة... أفاقت من غيبوبة حلمها على يديه تصفعان خديها بقوة، وصوته يزمجر: أيتها العاهر! لقد خدعتني! قامت بذهول تلملم عريها، وتتفرس في وجهه الغاضب. صعقت للمفاجأة! فغرت فاها مستغربة، فهي لم تفقه شيئاً مما يحدث، وسمعته يزمجر، وهو يشدها من كتفيها: كنت أمسك ملاكاً طاهراً. لقد مثلت علي طوال ملك السنين دور العاشقة، بينما لك رجل آخر في حياتك! إجابته والقصة تكاد تخنقها: إنك تهذي، لا تدري ما تقول! أجابها بلؤم: حقاً؟ ألا تلعبي دور الطهارة أمامي. أين دليل عفافك يا عروس؟!" بهذه الكلمات رجم "سامي" عفة وطهارة زوجته ريما ولم يلجم نفسه عن المآس بها وبشرفها ناعتاً إياها بالساقطة، ومشوهاً طهارتها بكلمات قاسية دون أن يتأكد من مصادقية شكوكه، وظنونه، ولكن كل ما استطاع فعله هو الذهاب بها إلى طبيب مشهور ليؤكد ما لمسه هو بنفسه، ولكن تجري الرياح بما لا تشتهي السفن، إذ يؤكد الطبيب لسامي أن زوجته طاهرة ولم يمسها رجل قط ومسألة العذرية أو الطهارة لا ترتبط بغشاء يمكن أن يتلف بفعل رياضة قاسية أو قفزة عنيفة أو ركوب خيل... أتت كلمات الطبيب كالصاعقة في أذنيه، فهو متأكد الآن في طهارة زوجته ولكن كيف يمكن له أن يصحح ما اقترفته يداه من خطيئة بعض زوجته الطيبة التي أحبته وقبلت به زوجاً رغم علمها أنه رجل مغامر له صديقات كثيرات، قبض منه غالباً ثمن عفافهن المزيف، ووصلنا من خلاله إلى الشهرة والنجاح في عالم الموسيقى والرقص التعبيري.
