متفتحة على كلّ شيء، ولم يكن قد خطط لتحقيق طموحاته سوى تحقيق حلمه، في أن يكون مؤثراً في المجتمع قساً وكاتباً ومؤلفاً وباحثاً، كلّ ذلك من خلال إيمانه بنكران الذات التي هي رسالة مقدسة مع الخلاص وبوابة سعادته حيث حمل صليبه وتبع المسيح، وقد وهب نفسه من أجل ذلك، هذا الطموح الحلم سيطر على حواسه ووجدانه منذ صغره ولازمه طوال حياته إلى أن بات مؤثراً على عقله وأحاسيسه وأفكاره، ويتحكّم في قناعاته وتطلعاته ومصارعته ضغوطات الحياة.
ولقد شكل مفهوم الغربة عن الوطن والسفر عنصراً بالغاً في فلسفة القس يوسف، وذلك يعود أساساً للدور الذي لعبه هذا السفر في تجربته الشخصية حيث كانت أسفاره ورحلاته إلى الهند الملبارية ضمن الأسباب التي دعته لإكتساب المعارف والخبرات والحكم البليغة التي بلغها في حياته نتيجة المعايشة والمعاشرة التي رافقت حياته، إنّ الأسفار لها بعد ابستمولوجي تؤثر دائماً على تطلعات الإنسان ونظرته إلى الحياة كما أنها تجدد نشاط الذهن وحيويته، وهي تمثّل باباً من أبواب المعرفة.
