تعتبر هذه الرواية أقرب إلى الواقع منها إلى الخيال فقد حدثت بشكل ما وبمكان وزمان معين، تمتد جذورها إلى عمق التاريخ القريب في العراق، ولا يزال هذا التاريخ حافل بأحداث الهجرة والمهاجرين وتربط هذه الأحداث الحاضر بالماضي، وكذلك تربطه بالمستقبل وبكل الأشخاص الذين عانوا ما عانوه في أوطانهم من قتل وتشريد وما لاقوه في غربتهم من قسر وضيم.
وتعبّر الرواية عن حدث من أحداث هذه الغربة التي تمتد إلى حين، حتى عودة الغريب إلى وطنه وليس في هذه الرواية لا مبالغات ولا انفعالات بأكثر مما هو متاح في إطار فوضى تجتاح بلد فيهرب المواطن من وطنه طالب السلامة إلى حياة غربة في مهجر قريب أو بعيد حتى يعود إلى وطنه أو قد لا يعود.
كما تعبر هذه الرواية عن واقع حال من خلال رؤيا تصورية لإبراز حالة الغريب في وطن عربي قريب ساعده الحظ لأن يعود إلى وطنه، فما هو حال الغريب المهاجر إلى شتى بقاع العالم المديد والبعيد.
