في هذا الكتاب محاولة في إستقراء الدوافع العميقة للإستراتيجية الأمريكية تجاه الوطن العربي، وذلك عبر تطورها المراحلي المتدرّج من الإحتواء إلى التحييد والإخراج وصولاً إلى الإحتلال المباشر.
لم تكن هذه المراحلية لتدلّل على متغيّرات في السياسة الأمريكية بقدر ما كانت أقرب إلى التكتيكات الظرفية على قاعدة ثابت إستراتيجي يتمحور حول هدف مركزي يقوم على تطويع النظام الإقليمي العربي في الإتجاه الذي يستجيب لحاجة أمريكية - صهيونية مزدوجة: المساهمة في إعادة إنتاج الحراك التراكمي لرأسمالية الذروة الأمريكية من جهة، وخلق المناخات الملائمة الكفيلة بإنجاز مشروع الصهيونية التوراتي في إقامة "الدولة اليهودية الكبرى" في قلب المجال الحيوي للجغرافية العربية من جهة أخرى.
أما الهدف الذي تتوخاه هذه الدراسة فيمكن في التأسيس لوعي معرفي عربي قادر على خلق أيديولوجية عربية ممانعة للأيديولوجية الأمريكية، فليس صحيحاً أنه لا معرفة بلا أيديولوجياً، وإنما الصحيح هو أنه لا أيديولوجيا واعية وفاعلة من دون معرفة علمية عميقة لواقع المجتمع والأمة والعالم.
