هذه المحاولة ليست لدارس باحث.. ولا لكاتب متخصص يعرض الأحداث ليستنتج منها أو يقارن بها.
وإنما هي صحبة لشيخ أدباء البحرين من خلال تراثه الأدبي وأوراقه الخاصة التي شاءت الظروف أن أكون أمينة عليها.. فعكفت على مطالعتها.. وجمع شتاتها.. ورفقة صاحبها منذ بداياته الأولى التي كان لها أكبر الأثر عن مسار حياته.. ثم في أسفاره وجولااته التي فرضتها ظروف متابعته لوالده الحاكم المنفي الشيخ محمد بن خليفة.. فمن الهند إلى زنجبار.. ومن عدن إلى مكة حيث أقام لفترة وأنضم لمجالس العلم فيها. بعدها نعود لمستقره في البحرين نزور مجلسه الشهير الحافل بالفكر والأدب، تتصفح كتبه ومجلاته ونستعرض مراسلاته العديدة لأدباء عصره، ودليلي في كل ما كتبته الوثائق التي كتبت بخط صاحبها والمراجع التي أرخت لتلك الفترة وكذلك بعض سجلات الوثائق البريطانية. أما الروايات الشفوية وهي التاريخ الحقيقي غير المكتوب فلم أعتمد منها إلا ما اتفق على صحته عدة مصادر.
وغاية هذه الصحبة إبراز الدور الريادي الذي أداه الشيخ إبراهيم في مجالات الفكر والتنوير والعمل الوطني والتعليمي.
