"يخبرنا تاريخ المسرح الغربي أن المسرحية لم تحدث مرة واحدة في زمن ما، إنها مجموعة من العناصر تكونت كل منها على حدة، ومع استمرار الوقت اقتربت هذه العناصر بعضها من البعض الآخر حتى انصهرت في الطقس الديني ومن ثم كانت للشاعر التراجيدي إرهاصاته وقام بجمع هذه العناصر في ديناميكية نص شعري نسميه اليوم بالتراجيديا. لقد ابتكر الإنسان الإغريقي طقوسه في مدينة دايونيسيا على وجه التحديد لكي يقدم ما يرضي آلهته، وقد رأى هؤلاء الإغريق قبل القرن الخامس قبل الميلاد أن أعظم ما يمكنه تقديمه لإرضاء دايونيسون إله الخصب هو الرقص والموسيقى والتشكيلات الجسدية التي ترضي الآلهة وتضمن للإنسان استمرارية في هذا الوجود.
إن كتاب زياد أبو عبسي عن المسرح، نافذة لقراءة الواقع عبر محطات فلسفية-فنية-نقدية، واقتراحات هامة أكاديمية-تربوية أنهاها بالسؤال عن علاقة المسرح بالتربية بالمدرسة وأهمية دخول هذه المادة إلى عالم الطفولة.
