سفر حوى نظماً وشرحاً لشعب الإيمان ، التي وردت على لسان سيد ولد عدنان ، صلى الله وسلم عليه وعلى آله وأصحابه ما تعاقب المَلَوان ، ومن تبعهم إلى يوم الدين بإحسان . نظم المؤلف رحمه الله تعالى هذه الشعب في أرجوزة سماها : « نفحة الرحمن بنظم شعب الإيمان » ، ثم طلب منه أحد أهل العرفان أن يضع عليها شرحاً وألح عليه في ذلك ، فألف هذا الكتاب وسماه : « فتح الكريم المنان بشرح نفحة الرحمن » . والبحر الذي اغترف منه كل من ألَّف في شعب الإيمان . . هو حديث سيد الأولين والآخرين ، وقائد الغر المحجلين ، صلى الله عليه وسلم وعلى آله وأصحابه والتابعين ، القائل فيه : « الإيمان بضعٌ وسبعون شعبة ، أعلاها : شهادة أن لا إله إلا الله ، وأدناها : إماطة الأذى عن الطريق » ، فمراتب شعب الإيمان متفاوتة . قال بعض العلماء : ( ينبغي لمن أماط الأذى عن الطريق أن يقول : لا إله إلا الله ؛ ليجمع بين أعلى شعب الإيمان وأدناها ) . ولقد أعمل العلماء يراعهم في جمعها وشرحها وتعدادها قديماً وحديثاً ، فمن هؤلاء الأئمة الأعلام : الإمامان الحليمي والبيهقي رحمهما الله تعالى ، فألف كلٌّ منهما كتاباً في ذلك ، وتكلم عليها بتفصيل الإمام الحافظ ابن حبّان رحمه الله تعالى ، ثم جاء الحافظ ابن حجر العسقلاني رحمه الله تعالى فعددها في « فتح الباري » ليسهل حفظها والاطلاع عليها ، وقسمها إلى ثلاثة أقسام : أعمال القلب ، وأعمال اللسان ، وأعمال البدن . ثم جاء أحد الأفاضل وهو الشيخ محمد بدر الدين ابن الشيخ صالح أبو ناجي الحاروني الحلبي إلى الشيخ أحمد جابر جبران اليمني وطلب منه نظم هذه الشعب ، فنظمها ، ثم طلب مدير إدارة الثقافة برابطة العالم الإسلامي سابقاً الدكتور الشريف هاشم مهدي من الناظم أن يضع شرحاً على منظومته ، وأصرَّ عليه حتى انشرح الصدر ، وكتب هذا السِّفر . ثم أتبعه تتميماً للفائدة بذكر مختصر شعب الإيمان عند الإمام الحليمي ، وأيضاً عند الإمام البيهقي رحمهم الله تعالى . فجاء هذا الكتاب جامعاً مانعاً ، يخلو عن تطويل ممل وعن تقصير مخل ، نسأل الله أن ينفع به ، وأن يجعله ذخراً لمؤلفه .
