علم الصرف لا تخفى صعوبته على طالب العلم ، ولا يخفى عسر مأخذه على كثير منهم ؛ ولذلك شمَّر العلماء عن سواعدهم ، واقتحموا لجة هذا البحر الهادر ؛ ليقتنصوا الدرر واللآلئ الثمينة ، ويقدموها تحفةً لمن بعدَهم . قال إمام العربية ابن مالك رحمه الله تعالى : ( إن علم التصريف علمٌ تتشوف إليه الهمم العلية ، ويتوقف عليه وضوح الحِكَم العربية ، ويفتح من أبواب النحو ما كان مقفلاً ، ويُفصِّل من أصوله ما كان مجملاً ) . ولا شك أن علم الصرف وعر المسالك صعب المراس ؛ لذلك تجد أكثر الدارسين يتبرمون منه ، ويتهيَّبون اقتحام لُجته ؛ مما حدا ببعض من رسخت قدمه في العلم وعلا شأنه في التصنيف أن يبادر إلى تيسير هذا العلم لطالبيه ، وتسهيله على راغبه : كأبي حنيفة وابن جني ، وابن عصفور وابن يعيش ، والزنجاني ، وابن مالك ، والتفتازاني وغيرهم رحمهم الله تعالى . وقد أراد العلامة أحمد جابر جبران رحمه الله تعالى أن يضرب مع السابقين بسهم ، فأعمل القريحة ونظم كتاب « المقصود » ـ وهو متن منسوب للإمام أبي حنيفة رضي الله عنه ـ بأرجوزةٍ عذبة ميسرة ، وسمى نظمه : « اللؤلؤ المنضود نظم متن المقصود » . وذكر أنه استدرك بعض الأمور من كتاب الزنجاني المسمى « تصريف العزي » فجاء النظم تاماً مكملاً بفضل الله سبحانه وتعالى . ثم طلب منه من لا تسعه مخالفته أن يكتب شرحاً على هذا النظم ، فأجاب لذلك رحمه الله تعالى ، وأتحفنا بهذا الكتاب النافع . فجاء هذا السفر لطيفاً في حجمه ، غزيراً في علمه ، مع سهولة في العبارة واختصار غير مخل ، فاتخذ في هذا الشرح القصد مسلكاً ، والتوضيح منهجاً ، وهذا من توفيق الله سبحانه وتعالى .
