يعالج هذا الكتاب قضية ذات خصوصية هي موت الفلسطيني وصوره المتعددة، ويعتقد الكتاب أن طريقة الموت مرهونة بالنظام الإجتماعي الذي يعيش في سياقه الفرد، وهي نسق سلوكي مثل أي سلوك إجتماعي آخر.
وتستند المقاربة الأساسية في هذا الكتاب إلى أن طرائق الموت تتيح إمكان دراسة المجتمع الفلسطيني الذي خضع مراراً إلى عمليات متلاحقة من التفكيك الإستعماري.
وقد تمكنت الصهيونية من تفتيت الكيانية الفلسطينية إلى جماعات متفرقة تعيش كل واحدة منها على هامش مجتمع آخر لا يكف عن إقصائها وتهميشها.
وعلى الرغم من ذلك فالفلسطينيون ما انفكوا ينتجون ذواتهم بأشكال متعددة من الوجود الإجتماعي والإقتصادي، ولعل المقاومة بما تتضمن من عنف وموت، كانت إحدى آليات إنتاج الفلسطيني كينونته الفردية والجماعية.
