في مجموعته القصصية هذه يعري "سامر مناع" جوانب من حياة اللاجئين الفلسطينيين القاطنين في لبنان وخاصة مخيمات اللجوء والتجمعات.
هي قصص مستوحاة من واقع حياة الفلسطينين اللاجئين أراها الكاتب "رسالة إلى كل المعنيين بهذه المعاناة مفادها أن طريق العودة تعبَد بالإدراة والمحبة والحرية وليس بأشواك الحرمان".
إن ما يميز الطرح الذي يقدمه سامر مناع في هذا العمل ماثل في تلك الإقامة المؤقتة الإجبارية التي يجد المواطن الفلسطيني نفسه أسيراً داخلها، لا حول له ولا قوة، ينتظر معجزة تعيده إلى وطنه، فلا يجد العودة إلا بالروح وهو ما فعله الروائي على الورق حيث أعاده روحياً ورمزياً إلى الوطن الذي لا يستطيع التخلي عنه، حتى في أحلامه، ولعل هذه العودة هي التي حركت الشخصيات داخل النصوص وجعلتها تتكيف مع واقعها خارج حدود الوطن الأم، وتعطيها أملاً بالعودة على الرغم من قساوة الحياة، ورتابة الأيام، وتباطؤ الوقت، عندئذ، لا يمكن لقارئ هذا العمل أن ينسى مشهد شمسيات اللاجئين على قياس أزقة مخيماتهم! أو مشهد جرذان الحاجة "أم توفيق" أو شهد نضال، ابنة مخيم شاتيلا ذات الأعوام السبعة، وهي تقول ببراءة عندما تسأل لماذا تخلو رسوماتها من الشمس والقمر: "أنظر إلى فوق من الغرفة الصغيرة، أبحث عن السماء والشمس، والقمر... فلا أجدها"!.
