شرح المكودي هو شرح مختصر على ألفية ابن مالك عمل الشارح على تهذيب أبوابها وتوضيح ألفاظها لتكون معانيها قريبة غير مستعصية على الفهم، مع إيراد الشواهد حين تدعو الحاجة إلى بيان وجوه الإعراب، واضعاً بذلك تلك الألفية بمتناول أفهام الطلبة المبتدئين والفئة المجتهدين المعتنين لحفظها. فكان هذا الشرح وسطاً بين شروح الألفية على كثرتها. وقد جاء الكتاب محققاً، حيث تم تخريج شواهده في مظانها من كتب اللغة والنحو، مع الاجتهاد في توجيهها وبيان محل الشاهد فيها فيما تدعو الحاجة إلى بيانه.
