هذا السِفْر، رحلةٌ ممتعة مع رجالٍ من هذه الأمّة، تلازمت في حياتهم ثلاث خصال تميّزوا بها: العلم، والجهاد، والوحدة، ولذلك أطلقنا عليه تسمية "علماء وحدويون مجاهدون"؛ وفي الوقت ذاته، فهي رحلةً في عالم القِيَم، بكل ما في القِيَم من فضائل ومكارم ومُثل عليا، جسّدها هؤلاء المجاهدون في سلوكهم وتصرّفاتهم ومواقفهم.
فهذا الكتاب محاولة للتعويض، ولو بالنذر القليل، مما حاول الكائدون إغتياله من تاريخنا، متذكّرين، ونحن نسطّر صفحاته، ونرصد سِيَر أعلامه، أن العرب قديماً كانت تدفع بأبنائها إلى المؤدِّبين، تربيةً لهؤلاء الأبناء على العادات الحسنة، والتقاليد الجيدة، وقيم الفروسية وآدابها.
وقد لا يحتاج القارئ إلى جهدٍ كبير ليكتشف أن في سيرة كل عالم ومجاهد، في الصفحات الآتية، ينابيع غزيرة من الدروس والعِبر والمواعظ والمعلومات التي يحتاجها العالم والباحث والطالب والمجاهد في كل الميادين والمجالات والساحات.
ويبقى السؤال، هل ألمَّ هذا الكتاب بكل العلماء المجاهدين الوحدويين المجاهدين؟ بالطبع، لا، لأن الإلمام بكل علماء الأمّة من هذا الطراز، يحتاج إلى مجلّدات ومجلّدات، وإنّما اخترنا نحن ثلّةً من هؤلاء، الذين دفعتهم الظروف إلى ساحات العلم والوحدة والجهاد، فتركوا في الحالَيْن بصماتهم واضحة على صفحات التاريخ؛ نذكر منهم: "مُعاذ بن جبل"، "أبو ذر الغفاري، جُنْدب بن جُنادة"، "أُبيّ بن كعب"، "عبد الله بن مسعود"، "سلمان الفارسي"، "حذيفة بن اليمان"، "أبو قتادة الأنصاري"، "زيد بن ثابت"، "عبد الله بن عبّاس"، "عبد الله بن عمر"... إلخ.
