هذا الكتاب أريد به أن يكون مدخلاً لمن يدرس البلاغة العربية وتطور فنونها بأسلوب سهل يقرّب معانيها ويجلي معالمها ويبرز قيمتها الجمالية، مهتدياً بأرقى النصوص على الإطلاق، وهو النص القرآني الكريم، مستشهداً-أيضاً-بالنصوص الأدبية الرفيعة المتمثلة في الشعر والنثر، القديم والحديث على السواء، وتحليل هذه النصوص تحليلاً بيانياً جمالياً، والتقاط اللفتات الفنية القديمة، والإشارات البلاغية التي تفيد طالب اللغة العربية في الكشف عن العناصر الجمالية وأثرها في النفس والطبع والملكة الأدبية.
كذلك أريد بهذا الكتاب أن يكون محاولة في إعادة النظر في موضوعات علم "البيان" وأساليب عرضها، لتنقيتها من الشوائب التي علقت بها بسبب الجدل العقيم، وتحريرها من قيود التفريغ-المكلَّف-والتقسيم والتعقيد التي تكبلت وإبعادها عن كل ما هو دخيل، لتلائم ذوق العصر. وقد خصَّ كلُّ فرع من فروع علم "البيان"، التشبيه، المجاز بأنواعه، الكناية بعض الخصائص الفنية للنصوص القرآنية.
وفي الكتاب محاولة لإعادة النظر في موضوعات علم "البديع" من أجل بيان قيمتها الفنية والجمالية المتمثلة في تحقيق المعاني وتوكيدها أو إبرازها على نحو يثير في نفس القارئ المتذوق، وفيه أيضاً كشف عن القيمة الإيقاعية التي تجسدها بعض صور البديع. هذه الأهداف-وغيرها-كانت من دوافع تأليف هذا الكتاب الذي يأمل منه أن يسد فراغاً يشعر به طالب قسم اللغة العربية.
