سلك المؤلف في كتابه هذا مسلكاً خاصاً فقدم مادته من باب النقد، ولم يجعل التقعيد هدفاً أسمى، بل سعى إلى توظيف القاعدة في الكشف عن أسرار الصورة، وبين عناصرها، وكشف جماليتها لتقوية الذائقة الفنية والنقدية عند المتلقي. فالقاعدة لم تعد جسداً بلا روح بل جعلتها الأمثلة المشروحة جسماً نابضاً فاعلاً من طريق الاستقراء الذي يعمل على جلاء اللعبة الفنية التي اعتمدها المبدع. لهذا كله تميز الكتاب بجملة من المزايا والصفات نذكر منها:
أ-عنايته بالجانب التراثي من علوم البلاغة إذ لا يجوز أن يبقى الدرس البلاغي بمنأى عن جهود الرواد الأوائل، وأن تبقى مصنفاتهم مغيبة عن أجيالنا.

هـ-تنمية الحس البلاغي والنقدي من طريق وضع علوم البلاغة في خدمة النص وكشف جمالية الصورة ينسخ من أذهان الناس آلية التمرينات البلاغية التي تكتفي بالتطبيق الجاف وتمهل تأثير التركيب في جمالية الصورة. لهذا أولى التحليل عناية فائقة وكشف عن نقاب المعاني، ودرب القارئ على ولوج الصورة من باب الجمالية لا من باب القاعدة الجوفاء والتطبيق المتسرع.
و-جمعه التطبيق إلى التنظير والتكافؤ ما بين النظري والعملي من حيث الأهمية والفائدة.
