إن العلاقة التربوية بين المدرسة والمجتمع علاقة وثيقة تبادلية لكل منهما، فالمدرسة هي مؤسسة تربوية هادفة أوجدها المجتمع لكي تقوم بتعليم أبنائه وهذا لا يعني أن المجتمع أصبح بمعزل عن المدرسة فعلى المجتمع توثيق علاقته بالمدرسة وذلك من أجل معرفة سلوك التلاميذ واكتسابهم للمعارف والمهارات والاتجاهات الإيجابية البناءة.
إن مفهوم المدرسة الحديثة ينسجم مع مفهوم الديمقراطية من حيث اتاحة الفرصة أمام المجتمع المحلي والعاملين في المدرسة لاكتساب العادات والسلوك الديمقراطي والمشاركة الفاعلة واحترام وجهات النظر والتعاون والمبادرة وذلك من أجل الوصول إلى القرار بأسلوب علمي.

الفصل الثاني عشر: يتعلق بطرق تنمية التفكير الإبداعي.
الفصل الثالث عشر: يتعلق بالمدرسة والمجتمع من منظور الدراسات التربوية.
