في كتابها المعنون (أميركا في الشرق الأوسط) تتقصى الباحثة الأكاديمية "صفية سعادة" سيرورة النظام الأميركي وعلاقته بالشرق الأوسط عبر قراءة نقدية لواقع أميركا بعد أحداث الحادي عشر من سبتمبر.
تقول صفية سعادة في مقدمة الكتاب: "... ما حدث بين 2001 و2012 كسر الصورة النمطية للولايات المتحدة الأميركية، صورة ساهمت أفلام هوليوود في ترسيخها في رؤوس البلايين من سكان هذه الأرض حول شهامة الأميركي وتقيده بالنظام، وتعامله الإنساني مع الجميع، وشفافيته وحبه للآخر، وأنه دائماً وأبداً العنصر الخيَر، أما غيره من البشر فسيء وصفة السيء. تتبع المسار السياسي لأميركا: فعال 1941، الشرير هو اليابان والألماني، وفي الخمسينيات من القرن الماضي هو الكوري والصيني، أضيف إليهماني ما بعد العربي المقاوم للوجود الصهيوني المستعمر أرض فلسطين وبالتالي الشرير مصري، ثم عراقي، واليوم إيراني وسوري(...)".
يضم الكتاب مقالات نشرت في جريدة البناء خلال السنوات 2010- 2011 تعكس من خلالها الكاتبة مسيرة الولايات المتحدة الأميركية وكيفية تعاملها مع الشرق الأوسط والقوى المتواجدة على أرضه.
