يحاول هذا الكتاب أن يفتح نقاشاً حول النزعة الإنسانية في المجال الإسلامي، فاحصاً ومتتبعاً هذه النزعة في مصادرها ومنابعها الفكرية والدينية، لافتاً النظر إليها، ومنبها عليها، سعياً في سبيل إحيائها، وتجديد المعرفة بها، وأملاً بإعطائها قوة المعنى، وصلابة المضمون، لتكون نزعة فاعلة ومؤثرة في تغيير وتجديد أوضاعنا وأحوالنا العامة، وعلى الأصعدة كافة.
والنزعة الإنسانية لها ثلاثة أبعاد أساسية، هي البعد القيمي والاخلاقي، والبعد الحقوقي والقانوني، والبعد الفكري والفلسفي.
البعد القيمي والأخلاقي يستند على وحدة الأصل الإنساني، والبعد الحقوقي والقانوني يستند على قاعدة أن البشر جميعاً متساوون فيما بينهم، والبعد الفكري والفلسفي يستند على أن الإنسان صاحب عمل وإرادة.
