جوليا طعمه دمشقية (1882-1954) رائدة من رائدات النهضة النسائية في لبنان والعالم العربي. مارست التعليم وأصدرت مجلة المرأة الجديدة (1921-1926). وجمعت في منزلها كبار الأدباء والشعراء ورجال الفكر والسياسة. كما دعت إلى تحرير المرأة وتعليمها واحترامها ومنحها حقوقها فأسست جامعة السيدات التي ضمت النساء من مختلف الطوائف.
عاشت جوليا في فترة حرجة من أخطر الفترات في تاريخ العالم العربي. فمن الحكم العثماني الجائر، إلى الحرب العالمية الثانية، وقيام دولة إسرائيل.
ستبقى جوليا طعمه دمشقية في ذاكرة الوطن مثالاً لأجيالنا الطالعة ومنارة لرفيقاتها وتلميذاتها من رائدات النهضة النسائية في لبنان والوطن العربي.
