إن التوثيقَ التاريخي من أهم المباحث التي يُعتنى بها، وقد أكرم الله تعالى هذه الأمة المحمدية بهذا العلم بل خصها به فلا يُعرف ذلك بمعناه التام إلا فيها، وقد ظهر ذلك في مجالات عديدة منها:
-علم الإسناد: بإعتبار التصحيح والتضعيف للنص الحديثي، أو التاريخي.
-علم الأنساب: الذي يُظهر النسبَ الثابت من غيره، وقد ضَعُفَت عنايةُ الناس بعلم الأنساب في القرن المنصرم، بل أهملت بعضُ الأسر أنسابَها واعتبرت ذلك مما لا فائدة ترجى منه، ثمَّ مع النهضة والصحوة المعاصرة رأينا عودة إلى جمع الأنساب، والعناية بها، وبحثَ بعض الأسر والأفراد عن أنسابها، وقد ركب هذه الموجةَ الطيبةَ مَن لا يتقي الله تعالى، فإذا هو يستغلها لتوزيع أنساب لا أصل لها بل هي مفتراة ما سمعنا بها في آبائنا الأولين، بل لم يسمع أصحابها بها، والذي استقر عليه عملي في البحث في الأنساب أنْ لا أردَّ نسباً عُرض عليَّ غالباً لكني أكتب عليه تقريراً علمياً في إثباته، أو بيان الموطن الذي يحتاج إلى توثيق، أو بيان الإسم المختلف فيه.
