وفي القلب من هذا التاريخ، هذا التراث اللغوي والبلاغي معاً، الذي لم ينْمُ ولم ينضج دفعة واحدة ولكنه استوى على مدار تاريخه الطويل بما انطوى عليه من متغيرات فكرية وثقافية وإجتماعية وإختلاف البيئات.
وظلّ السؤال مطروحاً عن كيفية التعامل مع هذا الموروث لا بوصفه موروثاً كميّاً مثل التركة، ولكن بوصفه موروثاً كيفياً ما زالت خيوطه ممتدة ومؤثرة وتمثل قوة جاذبة لفريق من الناس وقت إشتداد حدّة الصراع بين الحاضر بما يمثله من قهر وعجز عن الإبتكار أو مجاراة ما تقدّمه الأمم والشعوب المعاصرة من نظريات ومناهج علمية جديدة، وبين الماضي وما حققه الإعلام من إنجازات على مستوى النظرية والتطبيق والفهم والإستيعاب، ومقدرة عالية للتواصل مع ثقافات الأمم الأخرى وحضاراتها.
وظلّ سؤال الدرس البلاغي العربي المعاصر حتى وقت قريب محصوراً في كيفية قراءة ما تركه اللغويون والنقّاد والبلاغيون والمتكلمون من آثار فكرية ونقدية وبلاغية دارت حول القرآن الكريم وقضاياه الأسلوبية والشعر العربي وقضاياه التقليدية مثل لغته وعلاقتها بالواقع والتاريخ، ومدى حرية الشاعر في تشكيل رؤيته، ومدى علاقة الشعر بالعلم والفكر من جهة، وعلاقته بالفنون الأخرى.
