إن العلامات الفارقة التي تقدمها هذه الدراسة تحتفظ لنفسها بهامش غير ضيق من التركيب بين التفسير والفهم من وجهة وبين الحساب والخطاب من جهة أخرى.
لقد أشار أبو حيان التوحيدي في الليلة السابعة من مجالسه في "الإمتاع والمؤانسة" أن صاحبه ابن عبيد كان يرى في الحساب جداً ونفعاً وفضلاً، أما البلاغة والإنشاء والتحرير فيرى فيها هزلاً وتشادقاً وتفيهقاً وكذباً وخداعاً وزخرفة وحيلةً وسراباً، بل ذهب غلى أن أهل البلاغة قد ينالهم الإسترقاع والإستحماق والخسة، فللحساب رتبة أعلى من رتبة الخطاب لكون الحاجة إلى الحساب أمس، وإلى الخطاب [البلاغة] أخس.
فأنى للسيميائيات أن تحتفي بالخطاب وقد أبان ابن عبيد عن عيوبه ومساوئه وأن القائمين على شأنه يُتهمون بالريبة، ويقذفون بالآفة؟ فالجواب يكون أن الحساب والخطاب موضوعان قد يكون بينهما بون أو مفارقة فكذلك قد يكون بينهما مكافأة وحاجة.
فمن المكابرة أن نتنكر لدور الخطاب في تدبير مصالح الناس على نحو ما هو عليه حال الحساب، فالخطاب جامع لحد العقل السائس وثمراته، فهو منشؤه، وعليه مدار العمل، فصار محل إستقطاب من قِبَل حقول معرفية عديدة صارت متداخلة تداخلاً مثمراً كما نعاين ذلك بين الإثنولوجيا والأنثروبولوجيا وعلم الإجتماع وعلم النفس واللسانيات والعلوم الأخرى.
وترتبت على ذاك التداخل مستجدات الأسئلة الراهنة التي انبثقت منها إشكالات جديدة تتطلب المعرفة بها عناية بالنظر وفق ما أرشدنا إليه أرسطو.
قد لا يقف هذا الكتاب على العلامات الفارقة من حيث إنها آيات دالة تتطلب الوصف والتفسير، ولكنه يروم التعامل معها على أنها موضوعات قابلة للفهم والتأويل.
وفي هذا التعامل يبدو أننا ننتقل - كما أسلفنا القول - من طور الحساب إلى طور الخطاب، ولكن هذا الإنتقال لا يعني بالضرورة إستبدال وجهة بوجهة أخرى من زاوية البون والتفاضل.
