يحاول هذا الكتاب إلقاء الضوء على المثلث الهام مثلث البيئة والزراعة والغذاء على المستويين العالمي والعربي حالياً ومستقبلاً وسط التقدم العلمي الكبير للدول المتطورة والذي يتطور ويتعاظم مع العقود الأولى للقرن الحالي وسط التضخم السكاني وقصور كبير في الغذاء وتدهور مستمر في البيئة والموارد الطبيعية في الدول النامية ووسط سيطرة اقتصادية على الأسواق التجارية الدولية الزراعية والغذائية.
يقع الكتاب في قسمين يتحدث الأول منها عن المناخ العالمي وتغيراته خلال العقود الأخيرة وأثر هذه التغيرات على إنتاجية الموارد الطبيعية من أرض ومياه، وبالإضافة إلى تطور السكان على المستويين العالمي والعربي كون الموارد البشرية أساس المشكلات الغذائية وتدهور البيئة، والتداخلات بين كل من الموارد الأرضية والمائية والبشرية وتفاعلها مع البيئة والغذاء. أما القسم الثاني منه فنعرض فيه لمشكلة الغذاء والتغذية عالمياً وعربياً، حاضرها ومستقبلها وطرق حلها ونتائجها من فقر وجوع مسيطرين على أكثر من خمس سكان العالم بالإضافة لما ينتج عنهما من مشكلات صحية. كما يستعرض هذا القسم مفهوم العولمة ومدى تأثيرها (إيجابياً وسلبياً) على المشكلة الغذائية ووسائل حلها. وفي الكتاب جداول تخص جميع المواضيع السابقة.
