Book Description
تُعتبر التنمية الزراعية المستدامة للدول النامية والوطن العربي -موضوع صفحات هذا الكتاب- مفتاح التنمية الشاملة المستدامة في هذه الدول، كون الزراعة فيها هي المورد الأساسي لغالبيتها (باستثناء بعض الدول العربية والأفريقية والأمريكية الجنوبية الحاوية على النفط وبعض المعادن الأخرى) من جهة، وكونها هي الدول الأكثر سكاناً في العالم (80 في المئة تقريباً عام 2000) من جهة أخرى، ويجب عليها توفير الغذاء لهم بعيداً عن مساعدات الدول المتقدمة، وبالتالي معالجة موضوع الفقر فيها. في هذا الخصوص لا أحد ينكر أهمية المحافظة على الموارد الطبيعية (الأرض والمياه) من التدهور، والإبقاء عليها لاستخدامها من قبل الأجيال القادمة. وهذا ما عبّرت عنه منظمة الأغذية الزراعية الدولية عندما عرّفت مفهوم التنمية الزراعية المستدامة عام 1988 فقالت: هي "إدارة وصيانة الموارد الطبيعية الأساسية بحيث تضمن المؤسسات والتقنيات المتطلباتِ الإنسانية الحالية والمستقبلية"".
"... والزراعة في معظم الدول النامية هي الممول الرئيس للناتج القومي المحلي فيها، وبالتالي المجال الرئيس للعمالة وللدخل والحياة لسكانها الذين يتزايدون بنسب نمو مرتفعة. وانطلاقاً من ذلك فإنّ المحافظة على القطاع الزراعي في الدول النامية وعلى الموارد الأساسية لمكوناته واستدامتها للأجيال القادمة تعتبر أمراً بديهياً لهذه الدول".
