يضم هذا الكتاب دراسة لموضوعين من موضوعات مالك بن نبي؛ فكرة كمنويلث إسلامي، وفكرة الإفريقية الآسيوية.
بدأت دراسة الموضوع الأول بمقدمة في معنى تاريخية الاستعمار والقابلية للاستعمار، للتحدث بعدها عن الحرب العالمية الثانية التي آذنت بأفول الحضارة الغربية، ثم عن الإيديولوجية والمشكلة الحضارية والثقافية. يقدم إثر ذلك فكرة كمنويلث إسلامي مع بيان أهميتها.
تشير الدراسة إلى ظهور مفاهيم جديدة، وعالم جديد، وإلى قيام صراع فكري مع الاستعمار الذي دأب على تبديد المبادرات الفعالة.. وتنتهي بالسؤال عن دور المسلمين المنتظر، في بناء حضارة إنسانية قادمة من خلال فكرة الكمنويلث.
أما دراسة فكرة الإفريقية الآسيوية، فتوقفت بعد المقدمة، عند شهادة شخصية من أوراق مالك؛ تظهر استياءه من النتائج التي خلّفها مؤتمر باندونغ المنعقد عام 1955 بسبب سلبية المسلمين فيها، وموقف اليهود منها استغلالاً وهيمنة.. مما أوقع بن نبي في إحباط حيال ذلك المؤتمر؛ الذي عدَّ نتائجه هزيمة للمسلمين..
وختمت الدراسة بدعوة إلى تأمل حول فكرة كمنويلث إسلامي يعيد للمسلمين تماسك الأفكار.
