هذا كتاب "الأساس لعقائد الأكياس" لمؤلفه الإمام المنصور بالله القاسم بن محمد بن علي المتوفي سنة 1620م. حقق الكتاب وعلق عليه الأستاذ محمد قاسم عبد الله الهاشمي، بتصحيح ما ورد في الطبعات السابقة، بالإعتماد على النسخ المخطوطة من خزانة شيخه ووالده العلامة صلاح بن محمد الهاشمي، وهي نسخة قديمة تعود إلى عصر المؤلف. فخرّج الايات، وترجم لأكثر الرجال الذين ذكروا وكذلك الفرق الإسلامية، مع الشرح والتعليق لبعض الألفاظ اللغوية والشواهد، .. وغيرها مما يتطلبه العمل في المخطوطة.
يبدأ الكتاب بترجمة للمؤلف وهو الإمام المنصور بالله ... الذي ينتهي نسبه إلى محمد بن علي، مع ذكر لأولاده ومؤلفاته، ورسالته في هذا الكتاب ومما جاء فيها: "... فإنه لما كان علم الكلام هو أجل قدراً، وأعظمها حظاً، وأكبرها خطراً، وأعمها وجوباً، وأولاها إيثاراً، وأولها صدراً، لكونه لبيان معرفة المليك البديع، وتقديساً للعليم السميع من مشابهة الخلق الضعيف (...) أحببت أن أكشف المسوح عن ضئيل الأقوال في غيابات الظلم لإزاحته بإشراف ما حضرني من بدور أقوال أعلام خير الأمم، وشموس احتجاج الذين وفقوا لإصابة الحق الأقوم من عترة النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، بشهادة "إنما يريد الله ليذهب عنكم الرجس أهل البيت ويطهركم تطهيراً" وخبري السفينة، وإني تارك فيكم، طالباً بذلك مرضاة الرحمن ...".
والكتاب في مضمونه يتبع مذهب مؤلفه "الزيدية" في أصول الدين، ويفتتح أولى أبوابه بمقدمة في علم الكلام، وإثبات صفات الله، وكلام في العرش والكرسي وغيرها. بعد ذلك، ينقسم الكتاب إلى ثلاثة عناوين هي: 1- كتاب العدل، 2- كتاب النبوة، 3- كتاب الإمامة، و4- كتاب الوعد والوعيد.
