هذا الكتاب مقدم للطلبة غير المتخصصين في العلوم الحياتية أو الطبية كمدخل لتعريفهم بجسم الإنسان بحيث يتعاملوا مع النعمة الإلهية على أساس يؤهلهم للاعتناء بأجسادهم وأخذ القرارات السليمة المتعلقة بصحة الإنسان. كذلك، فإن المعلومات المتعلقة ببيئة الإنسان والتي عولجت في الجزء الأخير من هذا الكتاب، وضعت للتأكيد على أهمية البيئة في حياتنا، وعلى أمل أن تزود الإنسان المثقف عند توليه مناصب رفيعة من أخذ القرارات الصائبة المتعلقة ببيئة الإنسان. ولتحقيق هذين الهدفين. زود الكتاب بأشكال في غاية الوضوح، وعولجت المواضيع ببساطة مع التركيز على المفاهيم الأساسية.
يتألف هذا الكتاب من عشرين فصلا، موزعة في ستة أجزاء، يغطي الأول منها كيمياء الحياة والخلايا والأنسجة، ويشمل الجزء الثاني أجهزة جسم الإنسان التي تعنى بصيانة هذا الجسم، وهذه الأجهزة هي: الهضمي والتنفسي والدوري والبولي. ويتألف الجزء الثالث من الأجهزة التي تعنى بالحماية والدعامة والدماغ، وهي الجلد، والأجهزة اللمفاوية والعضلية والهيكلية. وفي الجزء الرابع يغطي الأجهزة المعنية بالضبط والتوازن والاتصال داخل جسم الإنسان وخارجه، وتشمل الأجهزة العصبية والغدّيّة وأعضاء الإحساس. ويغطي الجزء الخامس الجهاز التناسلي، وتكوين ونمو الإنسان ووراثته. أما الجزء السادس فيغطي النظم البيئية، ومشاكل البيئة ومتطلبات العالم المستدام.
