على الرغم مما كان يتمتع به محمد علي الكبير من الرؤية الثاقبة، والإقدام والطموح الذي لا تحدوه حدود، إلا أنه لم يكن يتصور أن هذا الشاب المصري رفاعة رافع الطهطاوي القادم من صعيد مصر، والذي اختاره لمرافقة البعثة العلمية إلي فرنسا لإقامة الشعائر الدينية بأعضاء البعثة، وتوجيه الوعظ والإرشاد لهم هو نفسه الذي سوف يجوب فرنسا لدراستها ورصد أحوال أهلها على النحو الوارد تفصيلاً في كتاب تخليص الإبريز في تلخيص باريز، وهو الذي سوف يقوم بترجمة الدستور. ولا ريب في أن حركة الترجمة هي المعبر الرئيس للاطلاع على ما انتهت إليه الدول المتقدمة في مختلف العلوم الإنسانية، والقانون يشغل بطبيعة الحال مكان الصدارة في هذه العلوم، وليس ذلك لمجرد التميز، أو ما شابه من الألفاظ والعبارات التي جرى إلف العادة على وصف العلوم الإنسانية الأخرى بها، ولكن لشيء آخر وهو اتصاله بكافة مناحي الحياة، باعتباره الضابط لسيرها والقائم على معيار المنفعة فيما يفرخ عنها من نتائج، وعلى وجه الخصوص البيلولوجية البشرية بما لها من أثر كبير في حياة الإنسان، سواء أكانت الغاية المرجوة هي العلاج، أم البحث العلمي. على أية حال، أنا لا أريد في هذه المقدمة أن أعرض للكتاب بالصورة التقليدية التي درج عليها الباحثين والأساتذة إيماناً مني بأن الكتاب يكفي فهو لسان حال المؤلفين والمترجم في آن معاً، لهذا أترك لهذا الكتاب الذي يضم مجموعة من الأبحاث المختلفة التي تصب في ذات الموضوع ليقدم ما به من ذخيرة داعياً الله عز وجل أن يحقق من ورائه فائدة العلم النافع، ولا أغفل في هذا الشأن أن أقدم الشكر لدار الثقافة الأردنية التي أتاحت لي الفرصة للتواصل مع أشقائي من الأردنيين، داعياً الله أن يكون لها نصيب من عملية إحياء الترجمة بما يعود على الشعب الأردني وباقي الشعوب العربية بالنفع الكبير.
