يعتبر التعليم هو مقياس الحضارة والتقدم الأمم، مما يجعل تطوير تصميم المباني التعليمية من أول الإهتمامات التي يجب علينا دراستها وحل مشكلاتها لنبدأ التطوير ولنبدأ أولى خطوات النهضة (الجامعات المستدامة)، وهي النموذج العالمي لتطوير الجامعات والمجتمع معاً وهي ما نحتاجه في مصر تطوير الجامعات وتفعيلها مع المجتمع لتؤثر على الطلاب والمجتمع من حوله لتبدأ أولى خطوات التقدم والحضارات.
فقد كان من الواضح أن تغير المناخ أصبح التركيز الرئيسي في السعي لإيجاد حلول مستدامة، هذه التغييرات نحو الإستدامة فضلاً عن الفوائد الإقتصادية والمالية، وبالمثل، فإن هذه الجامعات هي المسؤولة عن تدريب أجيال المستقبل من ناحية العملية المستدامة.
ومن هنا، جاءت هذه الرسالة للوصول إلى (الحرم الجامعي المستدام): من خلال الوصول إلى أداة تقييم للجامعات المستدامة بحيث تساعد على تحقيق الإستدامة البيئية في (الحرام الجامعي المستدامة في مصر).
إن معايير الإستدامة تهدف إلى إنتاج بيئة مشيدة أكثر خضرة، ومباني ذات أداء إقتصادي أفضل، وهذه المعايير التي يتم تزويد المعمارين والمهندسين والمطورين والمستثمرين بها تتكون من قائمة بسيطة من المعايير المستخدمة في الحكم على مدى إلتزام المبنى بالضوابط المستدامة، الجامعات ليس مسألة سياسة جامعية فحسب.
فالإستراتيجيات والسياسات وخطط العمل ليست ذا فائدة ما لم تقترن بأفعال محددة في أحد مجالات التنمية المستدامة أو أكثر، كإدماج مفاهيم التنمية المستدامة في المناهج التعليمية، وتحويل الحرم الجامعي إلى حرم صديق للبيئة، والإلتزام بممارسات التنمية المستدامة فيه، وإجراء بحوث علمية في مجال التنمية المستدامة، والتدريب على قضايا التنمية المستدامة في سياق التعليم المستمر والدورات التدريبية التي تنظمها الجامعات وغيرها.
