في (عين العريش) قصائد أنبنت على ثيمة الألم والخيبة والإنكسارات، وقد بدا فيها صوت الذات يشرح جراحاته دون تكلف، يحكي عن وطن لم يبق منه سوى الذكرى "والذكرى تأخذني لا أدري/ كيف دخلت محل العطارين !!/ في سوق ناءٍ/ من بغداد!!/ ورأيت أمامي والبة إبن حبابٍ/ وإبن نؤاسْ .../ فسألتهما عن أجمل/ بحر مأثور/ لقصيدة حب!!/ أحمي معناها/ من نكران الحاقد/ من مدن الغرب/ المشغوفة بالمادة!!/ كي أرفقها/ صوت الكنْهِ الإنساني/ والروح الأسمى!! ..."
هكذا ترسم قصائد الشاعر "ذوقان عبد الصمد" ثيمتها المركزية وفق اختيار شعري يتأبط تراكيب جمل شعرية مفتوحة على كل المعاني الإنسانية بدون إستعارات لغوية، فجاءت في مضمونها وسيلة لطرح أفكار ورؤى وحالة وجدانية، هي امتداد لقضايا إنسانية ما تزال تواجه إنسان العصر وخاصة العراقي في بحثه عن وطن طال شقاؤه. من عناوين الديوان نذكر: "وقفت وحيدا" ، "دعني وحدي" ، "الروح" ، "نوروز" ، "ويقتلني الموت" ، "في حرم الجمال" ... الخ.
