"حين قتلتُ شهرزاد للمرّة الأولى، قتلتُها في عقلي، تدريجاً، وحصيلة اختبار إنسانيّ ووجوديّ وثقافيّ تدرّب على احتقار المساومة و«البرطلة» في سبيل تحصيل حقٍّ بديهيّ. وعندما أردتُ تجسيد هذه المقتلة، قتلتُها على الورق، قبل خمس سنوات من اليوم، مع صدور الطبعة الأولى من الكتاب.
الآن، يؤلمني أن تصدر هذه الطبعة الثانية من الكتاب نفسه، من دون أن يكون تغيّر شيءٌ إيجابيٌّ ملموس في أحوال المرأة العربيّة. بل الأدهى، أن تشهد هذه الأحوال المزيد من التفاقم والتدهور.
نحن اليوم في حضرة المقتلة المفجعة لكلّ ما يتعلّق بالكرامة الإنسانيّة، فكيف لا نكون في حضرة المقتلة المفجعة لكلّ ما يتعلّق بكرامة المرأة العربيّة، أمام أشكال التأليه للذكوريّة البغيضة، في أشنع صورها وتجسيداتها، وهي صورٌ وتجسيدات مهينة في حقّ كلّ رجل حقيقيّ. لماذا أعيد قتل شهرزاد مرّةً ثانية؟ لأنّها لم تمت جيّداً في المعركة الأولى. ولن أكفّ، حتى أنتصر. أعني، حتى تنتصر هي على نفسها."
