ألا و"الليالي" التي سُرقت مني ونُشرت بين الناس على أيدي من لا يحفظون سّراً ولا يفون بعهد، كانت ضحية تأويلات مغلوطة، تلميحاً وتصريحاً، بأدقّ وأخبث ما يمكن، حيث يُدني كلُّ بدلوه على هواه، ووفق ما يناسبه.
لهذا السبب تحديداً قرْرتُ، بعد عشرة قرون من الأكاذيب والسخافات بحقّي، أن أدحض تلك المغالطات المدّعية وذلك بوضع الأمور في نصابها؛ إذ كانت حكاياتي بإملاء من الحسّ السليم، وبذلك الحسّ السليم يجب أن تُفهم، دون زيادة ولا نقصان.
