يجمع هذا الكتاب بين دفتيه ثلاثة مباحث تناولت دراسة الأشكال البلاغية متخذتاً من النص الشعري القديم نموذجاً للتطبيق، يشكل كل مبحث منها محاولة في إكتناه العلائق القائمة بين ثلاثة محاور أساسية في البنية النصية، هي: محور تقنية الشكل البلاغي المُنجز في النص، ومحور كيفية تشكل الدالات اللغوية وأبنيتها التركيبية في حيز الإمتداد المكاني للشكل البلاغي، ومحور الرؤيا الشعرية للنص أو الدلالات التي ينتجها الشكل البلاغي في بنية النص.
ويأتي الإهتمام بهذه المحاور الثلاثة إنطلاقاً من العلاقة الحميمة التي تتشكل بينها والتي ترتأيها هذه الدراسة؛ ذلك أن كل محور منها لا يستطيع أن يعمل وحده داخل النص، إذ لا بدّ من إرتباطه بالمحورين الآخرين في العمل الشعري لإنتاج الفعل أو الوظيفة الدلالية.
