إن دراسة الموازنات لا تتم خارج أسئلة العروض الذي هو فضاؤها، وأسئلة الأداء المؤول لها، حيث يجد الدارس نفسه في موقع القارئ المحاور لمؤشرات النص المتكهن بمقاصد المؤلف. ويتم ذلك كله في إطار حوار بين الصوت والدلالة. بين الانسجام الصوتى والاختلاف الدلالي من جهة، وبين التمفصل الدلالي والتقطيع النظمي من جهة ثانية. فالتوازن هو في الأساس اتفاق الأصوات واختلاف الدلالة وهو التعريف نفسه الذي أعطاه القدماء للتجنيس. لقد أوضح المؤلف كل ما يتصل بالفاعلية الصوتية في الشعر من خلال ثلاثة مباحث هي: الكثافة أو التراكم، والفضاء، والتعامل الصوتي الدلالي في كتاب سابق له هو (تحليل الخطاب الشعري)، وفي هذا الكتاب الذي نقلب صفحاته يحاول تكوين تصور وخطاطة أولية لقراءة الشعر العربي صوتياً، في القسم الثاني من هذا الكتاب: اتجاهات التوازن في الشعر العربي القديم، وسيحاول في القسم الأول إكمال الحلقة بتتبع موقف الموازنات في التراث البلاغي العربي في محاولة الإجابة عن مجموعة من الأسئلة. -لماذا اهتم بعض البلاغيين بالموازنات أكثر من غيرهم (خاصة البديعيين والنقاد)؟ -لماذا انصرف عنها بعضهم وعاداها البعض (بلاغيو الإعجاز ومنظرو الخطابة)؟ ما مدى اندماج الموازنات الصوتية في مفهوم التعادل والمناسبة الدلالية لتكوين مفهوم ذي بعدين صوتي ودلالي؟، ولا بد من الإشارة إلى أن استخراج موقع الموازنات في الرؤية البلاغية العربية وتبينها هو، في الوقت نفسه، كشف لبنية هذه البلاغة: ذلك أن موقع الموازنات إنما يتحدد بالمقارنة مع مواقع العناصر الأخرى المشتركة معها في تكوين الخطاب الشعري، فالموقع الذي يخليه عنصر أو يطرد منه يحله عنصر آخر لا بد من إبرازه، وهذا ما جعل هذه الدراسة مفيدة كمدخل لقراءة البلاغة العربية.
كتاب الموازنات الصوتية كتاب إشكالي، ينتمي إلى خانة المشاريع والأسئلة وبذلك فهو ينطوي على نقد مضمر، غير مباشر، لواقع التاريخ الأدبي في الجامعات العربية حيث يهيمن اجترار أخبار الشعراء والعصور من جهة، ولوك الأمثلة البلاغية المكرورة من جهة أخرى.
قبل أن نؤرخ لا بد من أن نحدد موضوع التأريخ: ما هو موضوع مؤخر الأدب؟ والواقع أن هذا السؤال قد غاب عن برامج ومناهج المقررات الجامعية في العالم العربي. لذلك سعى هذا الكتاب إلى تحقيق تقاطع البنيوي والتاريخي وتجاوب الإبداعي الشعري والوصفي والبلاغي لإضاءة جوانب الموضوع.
