يبحث المحامي "نزيه نعيم شلالا" في هذا المؤلّف في دعاوي جرائم الشرف وما يتبعها من أحكام.
بداية ما هو مفهوم جرائم الشرف. تحمل هذه التسمية في طياتها التناقض الواضح بين مفهومي الجريمة والشرف. يستعين به المجتمع ويتبعه في ذلك المشترع لتسمية أبشع الجرائم التي تطال المرأة ضمن نطاق العائلة. فيزهق الأخ روح أخته والإبن روح أمه، والوالد روح إبنته، والزوج روح زوجته ويسامَحون تحت عنوان الدفاع عن شرف العائلة.
وفي هذا الكتاب يحاول الكاتب انتقاء واختيار عيّنات مما تشهده المحاكم في لبنان والدول العربية الأخرى من محاكمات حول "جرائم الشرف" وطبيعة الأحكام الصادرة في هذا الشأن، ويعرض لتفسيرات المحللين النفسيين الإجتماعيين ولبعض النصوص القانونية التي تعاقب على هذه الجرائم. يلي ذلك خمسة ملاحق جاءت بعناوين متعددة منها ملحق رقم (1): التمييز في قوانين جرائم الشرف وأحكام الزنا والجنسية في لبنان، ملحق رقم (2) ويتحدث عن إتفاقية القضاء على جميع أشكال التمييز ضد المرأة، والملحق رقم (3) عن جرائم الشرف في الأردن، أما الملحق رقم (4) فيسلط الأضواء على جرائم الشرف في فلسطين المحتلة، ويأتي الملحق الخامس والأخير مقتطفات من الصحف والمطبوعات لعناوين جرائم الشرف.
ويؤكد الباحث من جهته على أهمية إزالة هذه الجرائم في موضوع التقاضي بإعادة تعديل نصوص قوانين العقوبات في الدول العربية لأن الجريمة جريمة، ولأن مختلف قوانين العالم المتمدن المعاصر تدينه ...
