تطل هذه الدراسة على منطقة "عيناثا" تقع في جنوب لبنان، وفيها يرصد الدكتور قاسم محمد سمحات. الحراك الإجتماعي، الديني، الثقافي، الأدبي، التراثي، السياسي، الإقتصادي، للعامليين منذ قرن ونيف من الزمن.
وفي هذا العمل حدد المؤلف الإطار الجغرافي للبلدة الذي هو إطار مشترك مع البلدات المجاورة وجزء من هذا الجبل، مع إستعراض موجز لتاريخ جبل عامل "القديم" والوسيط، مع تسليط الضوء على الحالة الإقتصادية، والإشارة إلى الزراعة ومراحل تطورها والتركيز على زراعة التبغ وما تمثله هذه الزراعة من مصدر رزق مهم للجنوبي، إضافة إلى الحراك الإجتماعي من زواج وطلاق وعادات وتقاليد التي بمجملها ذات جامع مشترك في جبل عامل برمته، مع الإشارة إلى الإدارة العثمانية التي كان لها تأثير كبير في المجتمع العاملي لجهة ضبط الملكية الفردية من خلال "سند خانه" وتنظيم جباية الضرائب. والتركيز على المتغير الأساسي الذي أحدث إنقلاباً إجتماعياً ومعيشياً ألا وهو موضوع الهجرة العاملية عامة والعيناثية خاصة إلى البلاد العربية والأوروبية والأميركيتين وما تركته هذه الهجرة من تأثرات إيجابية على النمط المعيشي للناس بمختلف جوانبه، مع إستعراض المتغير الإيديولوجي في خمسينيات القرن العشرين وما أوجده من أحزاب سياسية، إنخرط في صفوفها غالبية الشباب العاملي، مع التركيز على الدور الريادي لعلماء الدين العيناثيين والهجرة العلمائية من عيناثا بإتجاه العراق وإيران وغيرها، حيث شغلت –والكلام للمؤلف- التفاعلات السياسية والعسكرية التي حفل بها الجنوب (جبل عامل) منذ العهد العثماني وحتى حرب تموز 2006 الحيز الأكبر من إهتمامات ابناءه، ونصيب عيناثا من نتائج هذا الصراع مع إدراج أسماء شهداء البلدة وأماكن إستشهادهم.
