يضم هذا الكتاب مجموعة مقالات عن مدينة حلب؛ تاريخ ومعالم وتراث وشخصيات. بعضها جديد وبعضها نشر في مجلات أثرية وهندسية لم تكن في متناول القارئ الحلبي والعربي. تتضمّن تاريخ حلب مسهباً وتتحدّث عن مناطق من المدينة القديمة داخل الأسوار (خانات ومدرسة الشيباني) وخارجها (زقاق الأربعين ووثيقة الدلاّل ودار باسيل ودار غزالة ومنشية العزيزية ودير مار ماروتا)، وفيها وصف لأحدث التنقيبات الأثرية في قلعة حلب حيث وجد معبد إله الطقس مع وصف المباني العثمانية حول القلعة. مع الحديث عن الأدب الشعبي والمعلم نعوم البخاش نموذجاً وعن الشاعر جبرائيل دلال باكورة شهداء الفكر والحرّية وعن خير الدين الأسدي وموسوعته \\\"حلب\\\" في ذكرى مرور أربعين عاماً على وفاته. بالإضافة إلى التطرّق إلى تنظيم وحماية حلب القديمة بدءاً من أول مخطط تنظيمي (يونغ 1899) مروراً بالندوة الدولية عام 1983 وصولاً إلى مشروع الارتقاء بالمدينة القديمة عام 1993، بالتعاون مع وكالة التعاون التقني الألمانية GTZ والبنك الكويتي للإعمار والتنمية، والذي وضع عمليات الإحياء في الطريق الصحيحة. وبيان بعض نشاطات رافقت الاحتفال بحلب عاصمة للثقافة الاسلامية العام 1427هـ/2006 م. وقد أُغنيت مواضيع الكتاب بالعديد من المخططات والخرائط والصور التوضيحية.
