ابن زيدون اسم لامع لشاعر حرك المشاعر وصور العواطف، فأبدع تصويرها وعبر فأحسن التعبير حتى خلده الزمن وكتب اسمه في سماء الخلود بأحرف من نوع.
في هذا الكتاب يجعلنا الكاتب والأديب التونسي أبو القاسم محمد كرو، نعيش لحظات في أجواء أدب ابن زيدون. حيث يستعرض حياته بإيجاز ويعرض ابن زيدون المحب، ويحدثنا عن رائعة من روائع الشعر العربي المسماة بنونية ابن زيدون، التي فاضت بها نفس الشاعر وأوحتها إليه خفقات قلبه الأليم فأرسلتها أنيناً مراً وحنيناً قاهراً.
ثم ينتهي إلى شاعر آخر هو شوقي الذي طاف بلاد ابن زيدون، واصطنع ظروفه وعواطفه، ثم تمخض ذلك كله عن قصيدة نونية يعمل فيها الكاتب ما عمله في قصيدة ابن زيدون. ثم يضع نتيجة كل منهما في كفتي ميزان ويسأله أن يزن بالحق ويحكم بالعدل وينطق بالصدق.
وفي النهاية، يخلص الكاتب إلى عرض رأيه في الموضوع، وما استصحه من جوانب من خلال عرض نونيتي شوقي وابن زيدون.
