وجد الإنسان بعد إذ جعلت الأرض مهاداً والجبال أوتاداً، واجتمعت المياه مجارٍ وأنهاراً، وتساقط الغمام ندى وأمطاراً... هكذا يبدأ إبراهيم ناصيف اليازجي حديثه عن (السلاسل البشرية) ويستعرض فيها تاريخ البشر وأماكن إقاماتهم وإختلاف معاشهم، وتنوع الأحكام والسياسات، وتباين العادات والعبادات، إلى غير ذلك من العوامل الطبيعية، والمؤثرات المكانية والثقافية.
كما يذكر المؤلف الطبائع والألوان وأشكال الأجسام والوجوه وآراء الباحثين في السلاسل البشرية والنتائج التي خرجوا بها، ويقسم الكتاب إلى ثلاثة أقسام: قسم يتحدث عن "جيناي الجديدة" وهم قوم يعرفون بالببوان يسكنون أرخبيل "جيناي الجديدة" وما يجاوره من الجزر، فيذكر نبذة عن تاريخها وجغرافيتها "موقعها" ويصف حيواناتها وأنواع نباتاتها وطبائع شعبها "يوصفون بالخفة والطيش والنزق وشراسة الأخلاق"، وعن دينهم "البوذية" و"النصرانية".
أما القسم الثاني من الكتاب فيتحدث عن "اليابان" جيل يعزى إلى السلالة الصفراء أو المغولية وهنا يذكر المؤلف أول من دخل اليابان من أهل أوروبا، ثم يذكر جغرافيتها وخلقة أهلها "قدودهم ربعة، وملامحهم لا تدل على القدامة" أي قلة الفهم، ويصفهم بأنهم أذكياء متوقدين الخاطر، كما يصف المؤلف عوائدهم في الإغتسال والنظافة ثم عبادتهم وغير ذلك من أخبار مأثورة عنهم.
ويأتي القسم الثالث من الكتاب ليتحدث عن "النور" وهم جيل من الناس معروف لا يكاد يخلو منهم بلد، ولا يستقر بهم وطن، وإنما معشر رحالة يقضون دهرهم في النقلة، ولا يتعاطون عملاً إلا السحر والشعوذة، وليس لهم دين البتة، ولكنهم يتظاهرون بدين كل بلدٍ دخلوه... ومعلومات أخرى ذات صلة.
