هذا الكتاب وثيقة مخطوطة على قدرٍ عالٍ من الأهمية، تتضمن سجلات ووثائق وحججاً قديمة تؤرخ لعائلة آل رسلان أو ما يعرف بالسجل الأرسلاني، وهذه الوثائق هي شواهد ثقات، إذ بتَ في صحتها ومصداقيتها من قبل قضاة مجلس الشرع، وذلك في معرة النعمان (حيث يتحدَر تاريخ "أرسلان") وبيروت، وصيدا، ودمشق. وفيه، أي في هذا السجل، إثبات عن ولادة من ولد، ووفاة من توفي من آل أرسلان، وأشهرهم الأمير نسيب، الذي وضع له نسباً مضافاً إلى السجل، وهذا ما حرص الأمير شكيب أرسلان على تبيانه، من خلال وضع ملحق خاص بالنسب في معرض تقديمه لديوان شقيقه الأمير نسيب أرسلان، في هذا الكتاب والذي جاء بعنوان "روض الشقيق في الجزل الرقيق".
وهكذا جاء الكتاب ليؤرخ لتاريخ العائلة ضمن عدة محطات: 1- تمهيد عن الأمير نسيب أرسلان (بحسب سجل نسب العائلة الأرسلانية). 2- استدراكات – ما كتب عن العائلة في بطون التراث العربي. 3- فهرست الأعلام من آل أرسلان الذين لعبوا دوراً هاماً في التاريخ ويضم: - جدول القبائل العربية النازحة من شبه جزيرة العرب إلى سوريا ولبنان. –سلسلة أعيان الأرسلانيين من درَية بحتر بن علي. –أعيان التنوخيين الذين تولَوا حكم بيروت وجبال العرب.
