كان هذا الكتاب من الإصدارات التي حاولت التعرف على ابداعات الخيال في الثقافة الإنسانية عن طريق التعرف على بنية الخيال في مسارها والذي يعتبر مفتاح كل دراسة لعلم الإنسان، ولكل العلوم الإنسانية بما فيها الفنون التي تجسد وتحمل بنية خيال مجتمعاتها. إن الهدف الذي يتناوله هذا الكتاب ما نطلق عليه (المسرح الجديد) أو الحركة المسرحية الجديدة في كولومبيا التي كانت نتاجاً للعنف والتخريب وهي تعتبر سبباً لإبداع الكثيرين في مجال المسرح. فقد تركزت موجات الهجرة في كولومبيا إلى المدن الكبرى بوسط أحياء هذه المدن، وأطلق عليها (الطبقة العمالية) التي تزعمت ما يسمى (الحركة المدنية) وعلى إثر ذلك تكونت حركة مسلحة في المستعمرات القروية القديمة التي تحولت إلى أكبر تحد للعنف. ولكي تخرج هذه القوى إلى النور سلكت الطريق الثقافي، وسيدرك أي شخص الحركة المسرحية المعاصرة التي ظهرت بعيداً عن الحواجز والمتمثلة في مسرح العنف أو ربما الأفضل القول بأنه مسرح القوى الاجتماعية الجديدة التي تشبعت بالعنف، وهو مسرح يستحوذ أو ينتج ثقافة المهاجرين والطبقة العاملة ويعبر عن دور الثقافة في الكفاح الشعبي في كولومبيا، والكتاب الذي بين أيدينا يلقي الضوء على كل
