قد يكون القلق هو أهم مشكلة يعاني منها إنسان هذا العصر رغم كل الإنتصارات العلمية التي حققها، فقد بلغت الحياة حداً من التعقيد يشبه إلى حدٍّ بعيدٍ عملية إطلاق صاروخ إلى القمر، تلك حقيقة يعرفها الكاتب "محمد قره علي" منذ عشر سنوات عندما أصدر كتابه "الضاحكون".
ولــ"محمد قره علي" فلسفته في الضحك، لقد تتبع ضحكة الطفل وقفزة الحمل الوديع، وهزة الخيل لأعرافها، ووقفة الكلب على قدميه عند لقاء صاحبه، والحمار وهو يعدو طرباً متى أطلق من وتده، والعصفور وهو يطير من غصن إلى غصن، والحمائم وهي تتجاوب في هديلها، والديكة في صياحها، والضفادع في نقيقها إلخ... وخرج من تتبعه لكل هذه المخلوقات بسؤال: لماذا تطرب إذا أحست أنساً واستشعرت اطمئناناً؟ ولم يجد جواباً إلا أنها الغريزة الكامنة في النفوس، غريزة السرور والبهجة والحبور التي تتجاوب أصداؤها في النفس.
ويبحث "محمد قره علي" مع علماء النفس وفلاسفة الإجتماع عن بواعث الضحك وفوائده، فيكتشف أشياء كثيرة منها أن "الضحك هو اللغة الوحيدة المشتركة بين بني الإنسان، وهو الذي ولد قبل أن تولد اللغات واللهجات، وسيبقى حتى ولو انقرضت اللغات واللهجات.
ولذلك جمع "محمد قره علي" في هذا الكتاب كل الملح والأخبار والطرائف والنوادر من بطون الكتب، ليوزع ألوفاً من الضحكات دورها لتقفز من الصفحات والحروف إلى الشفاه الجامدة والوجوه التي أضناها التعب، وأجمل رد يختاره للقارئ من كتابه: سأل أحدهم ولداً: إن أخبرتني أين يوجد الله أعطيتك ديناراً، فأجابه الولد: إن أخبرتني أين لا يوجد الله، أعطيتك دينارين...
