"خازوق دُقّ بأسفلهم من شرم الشيخ إلى سعسع، لم يتوجع أحدٌ منهم، فقفاهم من حصن أمنع، طربوا رقصوا فرحوا غنُّوا، وليسمع منكم من يسمع، ما همُّ الوالي ظلم الناس، إذا مظلومٌ لم يتوجّعْ، واسْتُبْدل خبزي بوعودٍ، حاولنا الأكل فلم نشبع، قالوا الحرية في لبنان، هي البترول فلم نقنع، وتلاقى القامع والمقموع، وبينهما وطنٌ يُقمع، هل ترضى الآن مذاهبهم، في الدين الواحد أن تُجمع، هل ترضى كل طوائفهم، أن يبقى لبنان المجمع، يا أغنام الأرض اتحدوا، يا ماعز تيِّس لا تخضع، وثغاؤك قُلْهُ لا لا... لا، فكفانا نسمع مَعْ مَعْ مَعْ".
يعترف الشاعر طارق ناصر الدين بأن قراءه وبعض أصدقائه سوف، وعند قراءتهم لديوانه هذا، سوف يحتجون، وكأن الشاعر الذي بكى وبأكى طوال خمسين سنة ليس من حقه أن يقف قليلاً ويضحك!! وكان جوابه وعندما وسمه صديق بأنه في أزمة: "كل الشعر في أزمة، والوطن في أزمة، والعصر في أزمة" فألا يحق للشاعر أن يضحك كالطائر مذبوحاً من الألم. وهو يستأذن شعره، ويستأذن جمهوره، كما وأصدقاءه أن يرجع بالشعر في ديوانه هذا إلى طفولته البريئة كفنٍّ يمكن أن يضحك الناس قبل أن يضحك التاريخ على الشعر والشعراء.
