إنّ مقياس المعرفة ليس الإنتصار للأشخاص والمذاهب؛ بل هو الموقف من العالم والرؤية التي ينبغي أن تسود، هذا المقياس هو الذي جعل ابن رشد يتكلّم بلسان أرسطو في كثير من الأحيان، أو يصطدم معه في بعض الأحيان.
لقد خرج ابن رشد عن الأرسطية، في كثير من المواضع، بلسان التأويل، ولكن هذا لم يمنعه من تفصيل المجمل، والوقوف عند الواضح، وقول ما لم يقصده الحكيم.
لقد كان لدى ابن رشد وعيٌ بضرورة تأسيس نظريّ جديد للمعرفة العلمية، من أجل وضع خطّ فاصل بين ما هو علمي وما هو غيبي.
أمّا رؤية ابن سينا للعالم فقد جعلته يخلط في مشروعه بين مذاهب شتى قد لا يجمعها ظاهرياً أيّ شيء، لكنّ المقاصد الأخيرة والمضامين، التي تحملها تلك المذاهب، تلتقي في نقطة إشتراك هي تكريس التفسير الميتافيزيقي للعالم.
إنّ الوعي الصوفي لدى ابن سينا ارتكز على المعرفة الإلهامية، والفيضية، والتأثير الروحي في الكون والإنسان.
إذاً، نحن أمام مصير مزدوج للثقافة الإسلامية مثّله علمان من أعلام هذه الثقافة، وهذا المصير المزدوج يسير على خطّين متوازيين لا يلتقيان أبداً: الطريق الإلهي، والطريق الطبيعي.
