وهكذا وقف ميخائيل أسعد رستم، وجهاً لوجه أمام الثقافة الأميركية والغربية ليسرد قصته التي هي جزء أساسي من قصة الاغتراب اللبناني في أواخر القرن التاسع عشر، ووصفه لنشاط وطريقة حياة الجالية العربية في أميركا الشمالية يسد النقص في التعريف بالجوانب الخفية من المغامرة الجريئة، ليضع أمام القارئ المهاجر في التعامل مع المؤسسات والأشخاص والأحداث في ظروف طارئة ومستجدة باستمرار وأحوال ليس له بها تجربة لكي يعود في نهاية المطاف إلى إسداء النصح لأبناء الوطن في بلاد الاغتراب لئلا يتحولون إلى غرباء في الغرب!.
