في مجموعته الشعرية هذه يصرح الشاعر فيصل علي أكرم، بهاجس واحد، هو الألم الواحد، أو الرؤية للأشياء ذاتها. في قصيدة الأفراد وعشر قصائد تشبهها، وسوف نشهد بدايات صعبة صارخة نتعرف عليها من العناوين، فكل عنوان يعني كل فرد على حدى، أما القصائد الأخرى التي تشبهها نجدها تخصنا نحن وتخاطبنا نحن. في إهدائه للكتاب يقول: قصيدة الأفراد إلى الذين خسرتهم كثيراً... إليهم كلهم. ترى من هم الذين خسرهم فيصل كثيراً، كلهم؟ بطبيعة الحال، الخسارة بحد ذاتها تبعث الألم في النفوس، وكذلك الحزن وتجعلنا نتساءل لماذا خسرنا كل هؤلاء... وكيف؟ الخسارة التي يقصدها شاعرنا هي خسارة الأشخاص، قد تكون أبدية كمن يغيبهم الموت، وهنا تكمن المأساة حين نقول كلهم... لماذا... وكيف... وكثير من الأسئلة عبرت عن روح الشاعر والتي إلتوى بنارها التي يراها هو وحده، أما غيره فلا. يقول في قصيدة أمي: "أمي تحب الماء في عيني كثيراً/ وأبي يحب أصابعي منزوعة الأظفار/ قال مسكون بذات الهم، تعرفني/ فقلت: أقول إن الأرض تجمعنا/ ويدفعنا الطريق إلى سلالات القطار/ ندور في الحلقات/ معتبرين أن جراحنا/ إنفتحت إذا إنغلقت مدينة واحد منا وذابت في الحصار" هذا هو المشهد العام الواحد الذي يجمع التراكيب كلها: الأم، الأب، الجراح: الحصار،... وضمن هذا المشهد يمكن أن نضع الأحداث جميعاً، بكل جوانبها ونتائجها وطريقة التعامل معها.
